The Aboriginal programs at Westport Public School have:
- played an instrumental role in improving communication between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents and the school,
- given an opportunity to educate non-indigenous children in the value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures thus breaking down barriers,
- created an opportunity for more Aboriginal parents/carers and community to take an active role in the education of their children,
- given an opportunity to educate non-indigenous children in the value of Aboriginal cultures, break down barriers and dispel myths and stereotypes about Aboriginal people,
- helped to implement the school's community responsibilities to provide access to education for all people.
